The Library “Vuk Karadžić” in New Belgrade is part of the Belgrade City Library network. It includes the Central Department for Adults, located at Bulevar Zorana Đinđić 152, and seven branch libraries. The Library “Vuk Karadžić” New Belgrade has a collection of about 110,000 library materials. There are reading rooms in the Central Department for Adults and the “Vladan Desnica” Branch Library in the Sava Center. In addition to fiction, reading material for primary and secondary schools, the Library also contains professional literature from various fields of science and culture, a rich reference collection and a collection of non-book materials.
Within the “Vladan Desnica” Branch Library as a separate fund, there is the “Sergej Mikhalkov” Library of Russian Literature, founded on May 13, 2017, based on the cooperation of the Belgrade City Library with the Russian Culture Fund.
The Library “Vuk Karadzic” Novi Belgrade organizes numerous cultural and educational programs, workshops for children and other activities for children and adults and has an exceptional, long-term cooperation with the “April 11” Preschool, primary and secondary schools of the municipality, the Municipality of Novi Belgrade and many institutions and organizations.
The Library “Vuk Karadžić” was founded in 1951. Originally, the Library was part of the National, then the Workers’ University, and in 1989 it became part of the branched system of the Belgrade City Library as its organizational unit.
