I’m reading, so what? and Reading badge – developing reading habits in children
“I’m reading, so what?” and “Reader’s Badge” are two long-term BCL projects that promote reading among children, that is develop their reading habits and critical-artistic attitude towards the book (written, oral and visual expression of the books read).
Projects have been implemented for many years in cooperation between BCL (librarians in the municipal libraries) and elementary schools (school librarians and teachers) on the entire territory of Belgrade.
Children of primary school age read recommended titles, write descriptions and create illustrations. Both projects are competitive, so the best presentations and illustrations are publicly announced and awarded.
To realise the project “I’m reading, so what?” a special site was also created where titles that should be read and scanned students’ creations are published: http://citampasta.rs
The projects received financial support from the Ministry of Culture on several occasions.
